A few events this week
Dear readers,
If you are in New York City, I want to make sure you know about two events happening this coming week:
The Studio of Education as Art- Issues in Socially Engaged Workshops at Residency Unlimited
Monday, October 14th, 6-8:30pm Forms of Participation
This in-person workshop, held at Residency Unlimited in Brooklyn, provides participants with a general overview of the participatory models employed in socially engaged art and offers a set of tools, examples and exercises for incorporating them in one’s own research and artistic practice. Workshop registration is $40.
To register, go to this link:

(note: the first of these workshops, which was supposed to happen on the week that I got stranded at the airport in Málaga, will be rescheduled for later this year)
The Carnival of the Political Animals
at the Francis Kite Club
As we near this fearsome election in a divided country, we should take a moment to come together, be in community, and remember what we should fight for (and singing and having a drink together is a great way to do it). Join us this Friday, October 18th, as we sing a few Civil-War era songs and read a few political animal fables. I will even attempt to do something I have never done before: sing a country song! I will be joined by the exceptional Pheonix Vaughn and my group El Club de Protesta, comprised of Sebastián Cruz and Alejandro Florez. Cover is $10.

For those of you who are not in New York, I will be offering a few online events in the near future; I will keep you all posted.
Last but not least: if you enjoy reading Beautiful Eccentrics, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. I have managed to produce a piece every single week for nearly four years (220+ pieces so far) thanks to your enthusiasm and support, and my pledge to you is to continue offering these weekly reflections. But I need help, and paid subscriptions help me enormously in continuing this work. If you can contribute at any level I would be most appreciative.
Thank you all.
best
Pablo
